Jump to Top Employee of the Month - May 2012Category: Employee of the Month | Permalink Published: Tuesday, May 01, 2012 Congratulations to Carmen Spates on being chosen as Hospice of the Valleys Employee of the Month for May, 2012! Her great heart for serving others with love and compassion is extraordinary. Our patients and families are her first priority and they know it. She shows that she is mission focused by treating everyone she meets with her undivided, kind attention and her calm and loving spirit. She sees the sacredness in each person and her whole being radiates God's light as she comes in contact with them. She shows dedication and loyalty to Hospice of the Valleys in her 13 years (and counting) here. She saw the ups and downs of the company over those years and yet every day, she demonstrates genuine happiness at being here as she focuses on her work as a vehicle for achieving her highest purpose in life. Her passion in escorting patients from this life to the next is amazing. Because of her tender care and the comfort she gives, her patients and families feel completely safe and loved as she walks along side them throughout this process. Carmen always looks like a million bucks! That she takes the time to get dressed up for her patients and families every day makes them feel important and special. It also jazzes up our office and we love to learn the latest fashion trends from her. There is a saying that fits her to a "T" and it is, "To know you is to love you." Carmen has a very special way of being in this world, and we all light up when we see her smile. God bless her always and we hope she'll be here with us for another 13 (and counting) years!

A portion of the evening's proceeds will be donated to Jacob's House: a home away from home for families of a loved one going through a medical crisis. We extend our deepest gratitude to you for your support of Hospice of the Valleys and Jacob's House. Proceeds from the Inspiration Gala allow patients and families to receive love and support as they move through their final journey.

His kindness and empathetic nature are just what our patients need as they face the challenges of dying. He has a calm and peaceful presence and he listens to patients without judgment. He hears them and understands just where they are at and this gives them a profound sense of validation and ease. He knows just how to comfort them at a time when comfort is hard to find. His compassionate presence is powerful and he always puts patients and families first. He is rock steady and cannot be thrown off balance and this helps our patients and families to be strong and courageous. He is eager to take on new patients and often volunteers for more. He exhibits flexibility and focus in his work. His easy-going, accepting nature is a pleasure to be around. His smile is contagious and his jokes are side-splitting! Joel is an excellent nurse and the way he consistently demonstrates sensitivity and respect to others is outstanding. Jump to Top Employee of the Month - March 2012Category: Employee of the Month | Permalink Published: Wednesday, March 07, 2012 Congratulations to Marta Sarver-Martinez on being chosen as Hospice of the Valleys Employee of the Month for March, 2012! It is because of professionals like Marta that we have been able to achieve our vision of being..." the recognized leader of excellence in comprehensive end-of-life care." Her sense of humor is irreverently unexpected and hilarious! She not only makes us laugh, but she makes us howl! Also unexpected is her passion for softball. When we see her coming into work all banged up and bruised, we know she fought hard for her team and gave it her all. Just like she does here at HOV. Her kindness, caring and compassion are qualities that exemplify the best of what hospice is. All who are blessed to call her their nurse feel like they have been taken care of in the best possible way. Without fail, she consistently provides the highest quality hospice care. Marta is the gold standard for a hospice nurse, We cherish her. We thank her for giving her very best to your work and to helping others every single day.
Jump to Top Employee of the Month - February 2012Category: Employee of the Month | Permalink Published: Wednesday, February 08, 2012 Congratulations to Mirna Morales for being chosen as Hospice of the Valleys Employee of the Month for February 2012! She consistently puts patients and families first by respecting their wishes and going above and beyond in meeting their needs. We celebrate Mirna today for demonstrating HOV's mission in all that she does. Her positive attitude is a blessing and spreads to everyone who comes into contact with her. She has a great sense of teamwork and is always willing to help her co-workers. When she is not seeing patients, she comes into the office and assists with whatever is needed. Whether it is putting away supplies or meeting with members of her team, she does everything with a quiet sense of purpose and love. Mirna has a grateful heart. She consistently offers her thanks for all that she is given and show appreciation for the little things - things that many of us take for granted. Her sweet nature and her kindness are treasures we cherish. Her patients see these attributes as well and that is why they call her an "angel." They see her compassion and her tenderness and it is exactly what they need as they say their goodbyes. She sees her work as sacred; as her mission in life and this is so beautiful to behold. It truly is an honor to work with Mirna and to know her. We count ourselves fortunate to have her as a part of our HOV family and we wish her many more years of fulfillment and joy as she shares her gifts with patients and families and with all of us. Thank you, Mirna!
