She has embraced her receptionist duties with professionalism, warmth, and enthusiasm and has taken on so much more! We are grateful to her for her willingness to do whatever she can to help HOV succeed. She displays a calm, kind and welcoming presence at the font desk and represents HOV in a very professional light. Her customer service skills are exceptional and she demonstrates HOV's commitment to patients and families by helping all callers feel like they are the most important priority for her and for HOV. She is able to focus, even when there are multiple things happening all at the same time. Whatever she does, she gives her all and her work is consistently excellent. Since she came to us, she has learned QuickBooks and has been able to back up our accounts payable function when staff members are out to ensure work can continue to flow seamlessly. She is always eager for more work and her passion for continuing to learn and grow is inspirational. She is a fast learner and is not afraid to ask questions. Ally has very quickly become a highly valuable member of our team and we are grateful for her dedication and diligence. We are hopeful that she will be challenged and find fulfillment here at HOV and we look forward to the future with great anticipation.
Jump to Top Employee of the Month - December 2011Category: Employee of the Month | Permalink Published: Tuesday, December 06, 2011 Congratulations to Sandra Garza on being chosen as Hospice of the Valleys Employee of the Month for December, 2011!. She has very quickly become an essential part of our team and now we can't live without her sweet, calming, steady manner and her great organizational and streamlining skills. She completes tasks with ease and grace and brings humor to us every day. She has been enormously effective in organizing and maintaining a bereavement assessment system which enables the social services team to be more effective, efficient and thorough. She has been a great asset to the caregiver support group in the loving way that she supports them, keeps meeting records, and assists with meeting set up. She has become the GO-TO person for the entire clinical team who call often for updates on the social and spiritual needs of patients and families. She consistently pitches right in to help and always has just the right thing to offer. Whatever work she is given, she receives with a smile and she gets it done with resourcefulness and competence. She demonstrates intelligence, creativity and imagination in problem solving. She has an uncanny sense of anticipating what comes next and is constantly finding new ways of lessening the work load of her teammates. She is a strong and joyful team player, a great resource to staff, and is exceptionally generous with her time and care. We are so blessed to have her here with us. She is just what we needed to help take the Bereavement program to the next level. Her excellent work and high standards are a great inspiration to all and we thank her for her dedication and service to HOV. She is a gem!
Jump to Top Employee of the Month - November 2011Category: Employee of the Month | Permalink Published: Tuesday, November 01, 2011 Congratulations to Rhodora Gonzalez on being chosen as Hospice of the Valleys Employee of the Month for November 2011! Her kind nature and professionalism are so highly valued and appreciated. She has worked diligently to find ways to streamline processes in the QA department and as a result, has been able to work smarter and more efficiently, exceeding productivity expectations. She has even come to her supervisor on numerous occasions after having completed her work to request even more work! She owns her job by seeing what needs to be done and by doing it, often without being asked. When she notices that a certain area of QA has become a problem, she audits that area to ensure the problem has been resolved and if it hasn't, she brings that information to her supervisor so that it can be addressed proactively - before a bigger problem emerges. Her work is of the highest quality and she shows excellent follow-through with all tasks. She works in a very busy area of the office, yet she stays focused on her work and is always discreet with sensitive information. She is an excellent team player and is highly responsive to staff that come to her with questions. Her customer service skills are exceptional, as she consistently offers to help, even when it isn't in her job description. She has shown great flexibility as she is so willing to shift between her role as QA assistant and LVN, depending on the needs of HOV. This has been invaluable to the company and to her teammates as well. She stays calm, centered and positive, no matter what is happening around her. She shows a great level of competence in all the work she performs and her willingness to take on new challenges is impressive. Rhodora is a great role model for all of us. We could all benefit from adopting more of her focus, kindness and commitment to excellence. We are so blessed by her and her work and are thankful for her significant contributions in helping Hospice of the Valleys to grow and thrive!
Jump to Top Employee of the Month - October 2011Category: Employee of the Month | Permalink Published: Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Congratulations to Cherie Barnstable on being chosen as Hospice of the Valleys Employee of the Month for October, 2011. Her dedication in continuing her professional grown through advanced training and educational certification is a shining example to all of us and a living example of the vision of HOV. Her motivation to learn and grow is highly regarded. She has taken on a lot of extra responsibility this year and we admire her for this. She is involved with 2 teams at HOV and her motto has been 'no distance is too far' for her to go. She received her Social Work (SW) license this year and she was added on as a trusted member of the bereavement team. She learned Allscripts so well that she became a 'super-user' and a trainer for the SW team. She started a new bereavement group and completed 60 hours of education in order to qualify to take the ADEC exam this fall. She has been very open in the gratitude she shows for the value of education and she has taken full advantage of every opportunity to advance her skill set. The kindness and care she shows to patients, families and all of us is inspirational. She strives to do her very best every single day. She is always in touch with exactly what is happening in her patients and families lives and she stays flexible in order to meet their ever-changing needs. She demonstrates genuine warmth and compassion while balancing objectivity and a professional demeanor. These qualities promote trust and confidence in the care she provides and is a great comfort to patients and families. Cherie is a wise soul and we cherish her and her gifts. We are so grateful to her for sharing her best with us and for her great passion for life-long learning. The advocacy and loving care she shows to her patients and families is a blessing to them and sets a wonderful example for us all. When she is with patients and families, she has a special way of attending to all their needs - mind, body and spirit. She really listens to them and they feel heard. She communicates well and offers a special spiritual presence that is highly needed and valued at end-of-life. Her enthusiasm for being an active and valuable team player is impressive and such a gift to us. She is always willing to help out wherever and whenever needed and taks on additional shifts when we are in a pinch. We so appreciate her flexibility and her willingness to go the extra mile to lend a hand. And yes, it is ok to say NO once in a while! She has dedicated herself to continual learning and has demonstrated professional growth in her years with us at HOV. She consistently provides excellent care to our patients and families. Her efforts, coupled with the rest of our teams' efforts, have significantly impacted HOV's reputation in the community. Sierra lights up the room when she enters it! Her smile and positive energy are infectious. And communicable! She wears her kindness on her sleeve and always has a hug and encouraging word for her teammates and we thrive on that. His dedication to the values of HOV is so inspiring, especially the way he offers compassionate, loving presence and support to patients, families and staff. He has worked diligently to help streamline processes for electronic medical records. He gives his time and expertise to create new systems, delete old ones, and he shows patience and respect to everyone as they are learning. When he sees a need, he is happy to take action to help train his teammates and he meets everyone right where they are. He is a great help to the clinical team as he uses his talents to make processes easier, more efficient and user-friendly. His passion and eagerness to serve others is a wonderful example for us to follow. He has a soft and gentle way about him, even as he asserts himself with competence and excellence. No matter what comes up, he handles himself with composure and grace. He is always friendly, courteous and his smile encourages us. He passes along peace to everyone he comes into contact with and shows kindness, even in the midst of unrest. Your positive disposition and professional demeanor are special gifts we value. She sings to her patients and the radiance of her shining light brightens up everyone in the room. Her words are sweet and her quiet presence is powerful. Her sensitivity, intuition and understanding of the complex needs of patients and families is God-inspired. She knows just what is needed and she freely gives it with love and tenderness. When she reports on her patients to the team, her word is always respected, valued and spot-on. She sees God in all people and she treats each person as a sacred being. Her calm and centered presence is a sturdy support for the rest of the team. The humility she displays is a reflection of her kind heart. Because she sees hope and healing as a vital part of the transformation from this life to the next, she brings hope and healing to our patients and families. The focused attention she gives to each patient and family member makes them feel respected and cherished. We are so grateful for Dora and her service to Hospice of the Valleys. Her smile lights up our office and her positive attitude is an encouragement to us all. She shows her dedication to HOV by being willing to pick up extra shifts and flex her time to meet the needs of patients and families. She is an excellent nurse and is able to quickly assess the most complicated situations and provide the highest quality care. We always know when she is in the office because we can hear her softly singing to herself or we can hear her belly laugh! She is always willing to listen and she has committed herself to continually learning and growing. These are traits we admire in her. Her patients and families fall in love with her when they meet her and frequently ask for her to return after she admits them. It is such a pleasure working with Elizabeth and we are grateful to her for the special gifts she shares with us every day.

She comes to insightful conclusions which benefit her colleagues and help each department to grow and flourish. She is smart, mature and professional. She is a quick learner as well as a great teacher. She is hungry to learn and she is always open to taking on new assignments and duties. She is kind and friendly, getting along well with everyone and she always has a sweet smile and an encouraging word to share. She is one of the few people at HOV who knows an incredible amount about most of the different departments and how they run. She is efficient, organized and exemplify the values of HOV teamwork and collaboration. Shanae is a dedicated professional and we so appreciate her? As the company has grown and changed these past few years, she has served in a variety of diverse roles - case manager, admissions RN liaison, and marketer. She has flexed her schedule and her duties with graciousness. She works hard to adapt to the changes and always does so with a sparkling smile! She is willing to go wherever needed, and in whatever role she is serving in, she consistently represents Hospice of the Valleys (HOV) professionally and well. She is a dedicated nurse to her patients, an invaluable co-worker to her team, a patient and kind supervisor to her hospice aide and dear friend to all of us. She advocates for what is right and demonstrates fierce loyalty to her patients and to HOV. We appreciate Susan and all the ways she strives to do her part to set an example in fulfilling HOV's vision as "the recognized leader in comprehensive end-of-life care." She is an extraordinary team member and a joy to work with.
