Bereavement Counselor

Position Summary

To provide expert grief counseling and support services to Hospice of the Valleys' patients, their families, and the larger community.

Qualifications

  1. Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling or equivalent degree from college or university.  A minimum of 2 years experience working with families/caregivers and patients through death/dying issues and hospice bereavement.
  2. Demonstrated clinical experience in all areas of life-threatening and chronic illness, grief and loss, children, individual, family therapy and group therapy.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with knowledge of emotional effects of death, grief and loss.
  4. Training and/or experience in working with families facing serious illness and loss.
  5. Commitment to hospice concept and its implications.
  6. Willingness to visit with patient/family in their own home.
  7. Bilingual preferred.
  8. Your working schedule will vary but will include nights, weekends and some holidays.
  9. Valid California driver's license, acceptable driving record, and maintain auto insurance coverage within the limits set forth in the Employee Handbook.  In addition, full access to a reliable vehicle for work, with an expectation of significant driving.

Compensation commensurate with experience.
