Bereavement Counselor
Position Summary
To provide expert grief counseling and support services to Hospice of the Valleys' patients, their families, and the larger community.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling or equivalent degree from college or university. A minimum of 2 years experience working with families/caregivers and patients through death/dying issues and hospice bereavement.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in all areas of life-threatening and chronic illness, grief and loss, children, individual, family therapy and group therapy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with knowledge of emotional effects of death, grief and loss.
- Training and/or experience in working with families facing serious illness and loss.
- Commitment to hospice concept and its implications.
- Willingness to visit with patient/family in their own home.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Your working schedule will vary but will include nights, weekends and some holidays.
- Valid California driver's license, acceptable driving record, and maintain auto insurance coverage within the limits set forth in the Employee Handbook. In addition, full access to a reliable vehicle for work, with an expectation of significant driving.
Compensation commensurate with experience.
