Position Summary

To provide pastoral care and bereavement services to Hospice of the Valleys patients, their families, and the larger community.   Per diem spiritual care provider(s) schedules may vary, but the provider must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.  Demonstrated hospice and/or hospital clinical chaplaincy experience required with a minimum of at least one year of working with the terminally ill and their families/communities.  Training/experience in bereavement care and the ability to communicate effectively with persons dealing with the emotional effects of death, grief and loss essential.  Bi-lingual a plus.

Qualifications

  • Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary, school of theology, or divinity school. 
  • Must be endorsed by and a member in good standing of an established denomination and/or faith group as evidence by a certification of ordination and/or a current certification of calling to a particular denomination or faith group.
  • One (1) unit or more of CPE/Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.
  • Ability to provide non-sectarian spiritual support to a variety of clients of differing spiritual and religious traditions.
  • Commitment to hospice concept and its implications.
  • Valid California driver's license, acceptable driving record, and maintain auto insurance coverage withing the limits set forth in the Employee Handbook.  In addition, full access to a reliable vehicle for work, with an expectation of significant driving.

Compensation commensurate with experience.
